NewsBTC Cup 2015 race review

A strong field contesting the 2015 BTC Cup at Doomben on Saturday. Plenty of speed in the race which should make for a great spectacle. Just the one scratching out of the 15 runners, Trust In A Gust.
Lot's of potential leaders here. I have favourite Our Boy Malachi leading from a good barrier with 4, 15 and 9 driving up around him to apply pressure. Riding tactics will count for allot here. If the favourite can settle and run his own race, he will be hard to beat.
Srikandi will be one of those runners applying pressure from barrier 11. With her early speed she should get a nice sit just off the lead, ready to pounce in the straight. Her win when resuming last start was very impressive and rates her as one of the top chances in the race.
Little break and back to 1200m for Scissor Kick are interesting considerations for this race. Hard to doubt his class whatever conclusion you come to about that. History says he produces his best over this distance and that puts him right in this race. He's definitely one of the dangers.
Kiwi horse Sacred Star makes claims with strong sprint form in New Zealand winning his last two there. I rate the horses he beat a little under this lot however you can only beat what they put in front of you.
It's hard to rate Bring Me The Maid's first run on a bog track which she has shown to relish. Not sure if her dryer form is as strong as that run but not ruling her out as a winning chance.
Probably a bit too short for Knoydart at this level and some chance given to El Roca but he will have his challenges from the wide barrier first-up.
Of the others I like the chances of Big Money at long odds. I am not reading too much into his Randwick run 4.9 lengths behind the favourite on a Slow (6) track as he seemed to pick a tougher part of the ground in the run for home. His runs before that from his last preparation put him in this race and he has won three time from four second-up starts. Biggest challenge he faces is getting a good settling position from barrier 15.
I like Srikandi to win. She's up to this and Browne should have her well positioned to do her best. Our Boy Malachi in for second and I am putting Big Money in for third. If he settles well from the wide barrier he should be thereabouts at the finish.
