Flemington Race Seven race review June 27 2015

25 June 2015 10:41 AM

The Flemington track was rated a Good (4) on Thursday afternoon and that's the way it is likely to stay with sunshine predicted over the weekend. Race 7 is the David Bourke Provincial Plate run over 1610m at Flemington. A course that gives runners a reasonable time to settle before meeting the sweeping turn that leads the field into the big straight.

Kenjorwood is early favourite at $3.60. Comes back in distance after leading and then headed by Digitalism a few weeks ago at Moonee Valley. Different track, 1610m, drier ground, a class edge and an extra 2.5 kg on his back.

Baron Archer drops 6kg after his last win at Sale over 1625m. This one's harder but definitely comes under notice.

Majestic Duke comes into this unbeaten for two runs over 1600m. Drops 1.5kg from his last win at Moonee Valley in a BM84. Rates well.

Not a bad effort from King's Dance last start finishing 2.6 lengths third behind the winner in reasonable company and then bolted in to win a BM78 the run prior. Two wins and a third for four runs the distance and looks to be racing strongly this preparation.

Lord Durante comes off two solid runs which rate well for this race. Drops 4.5 kg from his last run. Front runner with good speed out of the barriers. Gauci will probably take him to the lead or take a sit in the breeze.

Let's Be A Star makes appeal currently at $14 on fixed odds markets. She has been competitive in Group 3 company when she finished 3.9 lengths behind Suavito and has two wins and three seconds from nine starts over the distance.

Chile Express has been running okay in more competitive races and is proven over the mile.

No Excuses Bec made a good return last start finishing 1.6 lengths behind the leader in a reasonable BM78 at Bendigo. She will appreciate the dry track and her best form rates well for this.

No Excuses Bec is my value chance of the day. I am expecting good pace on up front with speed coming from inside, the middle and out wide early. This should give her a good cart along and an opportunity to strike in the big Flemington straight. Kenjorwood in for second and Majestic Duke third.
