NewsBletchingly Stakes 2015 race review

This Saturday sees the first Group race for a few weeks with the running of the Bletchingly Stakes over 1200m at Caulfield. The rail is in its True position and the track is rated a Good 4, with a shower or two likely over the next 48 hours but nothing significant expected. The Caulfield 1200m is one of the fairest courses over the distance in Australia, with runners facing a 450m straight before attacking the turn into the straight.
Lord Of The Sky was disappointing last start when he was favourite to win the race. There is no doubt he rates on top using his peak Autumn form when he finished a nose second to Chautauqua, but that was a little while ago now. Newitt should easily get him towards the front where he likes to race. The class horse in the race and deserved favourite if his mind is on the job.
Angels Beach made a good come back last start after a disappointing run before that when she probably had some excuses. Distance and track suit here and she should get a nice trail on the rails. One of the big dangers.
Smokin' Joey returns after his win in the Listed Eye Liner when he won in a toughly fought out race over 1350m. He's been competitive at Group 1 level over this trip but not sure that's were he performs best these days. Definitely not knocking him though. Who would dare?
Disappointing end to last preparation for Petrology after starting it with a great second to Java, who proved to be competitive at Group 1 level last Spring. His jump-outs suggest his mind is on his job. Good winning chance.
Platinum Rocker resumes and seems to race well fresh. She had a good trial recently and has only been unplaced from 5 starts this distance. Her opposition here is probably a bit stronger than what she came up against in WA last preparation. Not without a chance though.
Of the others I like Written Dash currently showing $21 on fixed odds markets. Her 1200m win over Royal Snitzel last preparation rates well here and she goes well fresh. Look for a solid effort.
I am going with the three-year-old Petrology. He likes to run fresh and has the class to take this out. I am putting in Angels Beach to run second and Written Dash for third.
