Bletchingly Stakes 2017 race preview

28 July 2017 15:44 PM

It's the last Saturday of racing in July and already we're seeing some quality horses returning to the track. Caulfield was rated a Good 4 on Thursday morning, and with only some light showers expected in Melbourne over the next 48 hours, it's likely to stay that way. Race eight on the card is the Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes, run under weight-for age conditions it includes several quality horses including multiple Group 1 winner Lankan Rupee.

Punters are very positive about Lankan Rupee, Mick Price's sprinting champ, in early markets backing him in to $4.40 from $5.50 (2pm Thursday). The only other runner receiving early attention has been Brisbane mare Savanna Amour now $9.50 after opening at $14.

Horse Racing AnalysisKey Runners

#7 Supido- flucs at 3.30pm 27/7 - 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, 3.5, 3.6

Showed what he is capable of first-up winning the John Monash in style. Showed his class when finishing a close third to English last preparation. Well drawn and should be hard to beat.

#1 Lankan Rupee flucs at 3.30pm 27/7 - 5.5, 4.6, 4.4, 4.2, 4.4

Has been getting closer to the form that earned him the title of worlds best sprinter in recent preparations. Was good enough when resuming in his recent campaign with 61.5kg on his back when he was hindered in the run for home. Had a reasonable trial and goes well fresh. Contender.

#12 Ability flucs at 3.30pm 27/7 - 7.5, 8, 8.5, 8

Unbeaten this preparation winning at listed level at his recent outing over 1200m. Weight for age this time but he's on the up. Consider.

#13 Savanna Amour flucs at 3.30pm 27/7 - 14, 10, 11, 10, 9.5

Solid races as a filly under her nelt and has a good fresh record. Harder here but on the way up. Won't surprise to see her in the finish.

#11 Santa Ana Lane flucs at 3.30pm 27/7 - 10, 11, 10

Her run in the Goodwood brings her into consideration here. Backed that up with a solid 1.75 lengths fifth at Flemington carrying 60kg when the pattern didn't suit. Capable of figuring in the finish.

#2 Keen Array flucs at 3.30pm 27/7 - 8, 9.5, 10, 9.5, 11

Ticks a few boxes here. Loves Caulfield, handy fresh and showed enough last preparation to be a contender at this level. Goes in.

#10 Chocolate Holic flucs at 3.30pm 27/7 - 8.5, 9, 9.5, 10, 11

Resumes after a solid performance in quality races on the west coast. Finished last preparation second close behind Vega Magic. Worthy contender.

#9 Murt The Flirt odds fluctuations 1pm 21/7 - 15, 16

Raced well fresh when finishing hard against the pattern under weight-for-age conditions. Wasn't far away from Supido. Consider.

Of the others....

Hard to dismiss any of the rest. Divine Ten was solid first-up after running wide he finished a close fourth. Charmed Harmony has a good fresh record and goes close if he repeats his efforts at Caulfied last preparation. Daytona Grey wasn't far from Supido last start and has a good 1200m strike rate. A repeat of the first-up effort from Tashbeeh puts him in the mix and Duke Of Brunswick showed enough fight first-up to be considered.
