Eagle Farm

Race 6 the Ellyce Galvin Victory Stakes at Eagle Farm is a quality Group 2 race with only six starters going around as I type. The smaller field offers a great contest for punters to unravel with the seasoned Group 1 performers coming-up against the talented rising local star Tumbler whose has blow away just about every horse that's been put in front of her. Undoubtedly this is her toughest test yet but she meets them on her home ground with form on her side.

Music Magnate

The class of Music Magnate sees last years Doomben 10000 winner as the early market favourite at $2.45. His past two efforts on heavy 10 tracks are forgiven. Before that he won first-up at this distance and recent trials suggest he's near his best.

Takedown is another classy hopeful in the race who is also forgiven at his last start on the heavy Randwick track. Who can forget his cracking Spring campaign capped off by a win in the G1 Winterbottom. Top contender.

Of the rest Hopfgarten has some hope but 1200m is not his strongest distance. Miss Cover Girl wasn't bad first-up at this track and distance last preparation. Couldn't get free air and should have finished better than 3.4 lengths fourth then. Won the G1 Tatts Tiara before that so has the ability. Consider.

Selections -

2. Music Magnate

6. Miss Cover Girl

7. Tumbler

Hawkesbury

Race 6 is the Group 3 Godolphin Crown run over the 1300m for fillies and mares. The track was rated a Good 4 on Friday morning which should be the case when they jump in this race.

A number of these runners make strong claims. Artistry is in good form this preparation, will appreciate the drier track and the speed map looks good for her from barrier 4. Daysee Doom has put in three solid runs this preparation in top class races. Expecting the short freshen to work in her favour. Sweet Redemption is a chance fresh but suspect she may need the run. Prompt Response, the only filly in the race, could be the surprise packet if she gets a run with the dry track improving her chances.

Of the others, Kinshachi has to be given thought. Unbeaten from three first-up starts. Progressed through the grades nicely last preparation with four consecutive wins. Wide gate not ideal but has handy early speed. Shillelagh has excuses for each of her three runs this preparation and has to come into contention on her close second to Artistry in the spring. Hieroglyphics rates as a chance from a wide barrier. Looked good through the line from a wide gate last start and wasn't far away in Group 3 company a few runs before.

Selections -

8. Daysee Doom

6. Shillelagh

7. Artistry

Caulfield

Race 8 at Caulfield is the listed Thoroughbred Club Stakes run over the 1440m at Caulfield. The track was rated a soft 6 with some predicted rain threatening to degrade that rating further.

Charmed Harmony was solid at this track and distance against good opposition at his recent outing. Zebulon has a handy record at the distance and first-up - rates well. Whistle Baby is having a strong preparation and looks to be a genuine improver who should be peaking here. Top Me Up is in the mix.

Of the others Heart Starter is a capable contender having won well fresh last preparation and then going on to run well in similar distance races at Ascot and rates well against these rivals. Star Exhibit shares similar form lines and also goes in.

Selections -

8. Zebulon

6. Whistle Baby

7. Charmed Harmony
